I

Hey Everyone, I'm going to start writing a music update blog where I will give show the all different types of music genres updates. If you have any requests or questions about any music, concerts etc. then leave a comment and I'll be sure to figure it out for you. Mainly, I'm into hip-hop and rap so that will be the most prominent in these updates however I will make sure to cover all the bases. =) Itunes Top 10:
  1. Fearless by Taylor Swift: She has become so popular lately and most people love her. In my opinion most of her songs sound the same as each other and are not worth buying. However, she does have good lyrics and meaning behind her songs which is uncommon in a lot of today's music. She's a mix of pop and country.
  2. Womanizer by Britney Spears: Even Britney Spears is using the vocoder in her songs and she's getting pretty popular again. Her voice has a certain draw in to it. It's classic Britney Spears music so if you like her then you'll love this.
  3. Live your Life by T.I. ft. Rihanna: This is a great song and the mix of T.I. and Rihanna. T.I. is brilliant like always and I absolutely love him. I don't think that this is the best song off his new CD but we'll get into that year. While some people think she's turning into some sort of a robot I think that this style works for her especially in Disturbia. Disturbia is definitley one to buy. Even though that song is not as new as some of you would like it never seems to get old.
  4. So What by P!nk: I'm actually surprised that this song is still on the top 10; it's been a while. P!nk really brought herself up to today's style of what most people enjoy. It' a pretty good rocking song but you have to be in the mood for it.
  5. Hot N Cold by Katy Perry: Katy Perry is not my fave. She does have some good quality to her voice but definitley not top 10 material. Her style may sound new but it's really just more husky for a girl's voice. If you like it then go ahead and run with it but I'm not going to join ya.
  6. Let it Rock by Kevin Rudolf & Lil Wayne: This song is magnificent. I am a huge! fan of Lil Wayne like lots of other people. I even have a t-shirt with him on it. Anyway, this is an unlikely combination of these two artists but it's like magic. It fuses rock/alternative and rap together to form a really nice beat. This deserves to be on the list for sure; it's worth buying.
  7. Whatever you Like by T.I.: This song is also really, really great. T.I. has a smoother sound to his voice in this song and it is a song I think everyone loves. T.I. is back and better than before.
  8. Love Lockdown by Kanye West: This song was alright at first but honestly he overused the vocoder in this one. T-Pain and Lil Wayne do it best. Kanye can try but he sounds better when he just raps some sick lyrics. The lyrics in this however make a lot of sense though and I think a lot of people can relate to this song.
  9. Love Story by Taylor Swift: This is just another Taylor Swift love sick songs. She definitley needs to find a man quick so she can stop being so needy all the time. Teardrops on my guitar? Yeah, her songs sound the same even when the lyrics change. Sorry to her supporters!
  10. Gotta be Somebody by Nickelback: Nickelback is coming back into the music scene. The last thing we heard from them was their hit "Rockstar" but this song is just as good. Their voice quality is great and the lyrics always have meaning behind them. Nickelback is great if you're in a more nostalgic mood.

Alright so now I'm going to talk about the new albums that have come out recently. Paper Trail: Every single song on this CD is great. If I were you I would buy the whole CD but if you're working with a limited budget then here are the top songs:
1. Whatever you Like: I explained why this is great above in the Itunes top 10.

2. On Top of the World: This song features Ludacris and B.o.B. It may sound like the chorus is by T-Pain but it's actually not! I love this song with a passion and it has a really great flow and sound.
3. Dead and Gone: This song features Justin Timberlake. At first I didn't know how T.I. and JT would blend but they work quite nicely. It's more of a sad song but it still is one of the best off this CD.
4. Slide Show: This song features John Legend. John Legend is really throwing himself back into the music business. He has come out with a lot of good singles lately such as "Green Light" feat. Andre 3000. But this song has a boat load of meaning and imagery when comparing life to a slide show. It sounds great too!

James Morrison has a lot of soul and most of his songs on his CD Songs For You, Truths For Me, are very good. He sings a song with Jason Mraz called Details in the Fabric on Mraz's new CD as well. He is more rock with a little R & B. I guess you could consider his voice a bit lighter than Nickelback's but with some of the same feel; Nickelback mixed with Jason Mraz? Maybe... Favorites from this CD include:
1. Nothing Ever Hurt Like You: This is more of an upbeat song about well just what the title said; a girl that hurt him like nothing else before. It has some nice lyrics in there and a huskier tone. I listen to it all the time so buy it!
2. Please Don't Stop the Rain: It's basically about the good and bad times i
n life. "If things don't go your way, but we've got no control over what happens anyway." I really like that line out of the whole song. It's tone sounds more sad than I'd like but overall it's one of the best off the CD.
3. You Make It Real: This is a very sweet song. Love, love. "You're the only one who saves me." =)

Ne-Yo in the Year of the Gentleman. This is not as good as I would have liked but there are a few especially good songs that have come off of here. I would not recommend buying the whole CD but rather buy a few songs off of Itunes or wherever you get your music. Most of these songs consist of a very slow tempo so if that's what your into then maybe you would like all of them but I do not. Anwyways the top songs I picked from this CD are:
1. Closer: This has been on the radio a lot, I know.... I don't like the radio at all. I find the music I like by searching. I really like this song though and it has a really good dancey beat to it. I don't like the way it starts by him saying "closer, closer, closer..." but ignore that part and it's a really good song!
2.She Got Her Own: This song features Jamie Foxx and Fabolous. It's a great combination of all three of their voices, beautifully blended. I know on Itunes that you can only buy this song as a single if you buy the WHOLE entire CD and that does suck but! if you are willing to spend a little extra (1.49 instead of .99) then I would definitley buy the music video for this. The music video was recently the jam of the week on a m
usic videos channel. Love this one!
3.Back to What You Know: This is one of the only faster songs on here and if you didn't notice I generally like songs with a faster pace to them. In any case, the chorus is especially good and a little raspy for Ne-Yo so it's a little different but still great.

Her music just keeps getting better! If you've never heard of Ingrid Michaelson before then an example of her previous work is "The Way I Am" which was on one of the Old Navy commercials. I love this CD a whole lot. It is so fresh and light. I would suggest buying the whole CD if you are going for that but if you only want a few of the greatness here are the top:
1. Be Ok: I'm not sure if this is on the radio since I don't listen to it really but I'm sure it will be soon if it's not. It is uplifting and lovely. I love to sing-a-long with it. She has somewhat of a Colbie Callait feel but better.
2. You and I: Some of the lyrics to this are pretty funny like about doing what bunnies do. The chorus is the best part of this and I love the male counterpart to her voice; it's a nice balance. More fast pace for her but amazing none the less.

3. Lady in Spain: I don't feel like expl
aining why this is good, it just is.

Ok so moving on to new singles that I would suggest giving a listen to:
  1. Green Light by John Legend: This song features Andre 3000. John Legend is coming back with a bang. I love basically all his newly released songs including "Everybody Knows" and "No Other Love" which features Estelle. Anyways this song has a very good music video as well where he breaks out into singing when he is suppose to be a piano player at a party.
  2. Freeze by T-Pain: This song features Chris Brown. I love this combo! Chris Brown is always great. Fun beat, fun lyrics, etc. It's definitely nothing new from T-Pain but it is still really great. Don't forget T-Pain and Lil Wayne own the vocoder so if you can't do it as well as they can or better then don't try; thank you!
  3. Return the Favor by Keri Hilson: This song features Timbaland and was also produced by him. Timbaland always seems to be able to find the next big thing; I don't think he gets enough credit in that area. This song has Hilson and Timbaland singing back and forth to each other. It's not what I expected. Definitley one to buy!
  4. All My Life in the Ghetto by Jay Rock: This song features Lil Wayne which is the reason that I bought it to begin with! But it happens to be extremely good and smooth. Someone on Itunes said it came out about a year ago but it was released on October 7th so oh well!
  5. Poker Face by Lady GaGa: This song was played on a recent episode of Gossip Girl and I really liked it. The only part I don't lke is when she continuously says "Poker face" but ignore that and the song is a great song; very danceable I guess.
  6. Great DJ by The Ting Tings: The Ting Tings are an alternative group with female lead singer. You may have heard this song on the new 90210 because it was on one of the beginning episodes of that. Some people may find the sound annoying however I find it bouncy, entertaining, and unique. So if you're into the more offbeat style than take a listen.
  7. Pony (It's OK) by Erin McCarley: I guess who could categorize her sound with people such as Ingrid Michaelson, Colbie Caillait, and Sara Bareilles but she is not as well known. It is a sweet song with an older song type of feel. I don't know what else I can say about this song but go and listen to see what you think.
  8. Fall Back by Dear Jayne: This song features The-Dream and his voice is, like always, like a dream. I have never heard Dear Jayne before this but she is really very good. This is more of and R&B song.
Ok 8 new singles is all I'm giving you for now. I'd also like to say that I don't think David Banner gets enough credit or publicity as he should! Buy his CD The Greatest Story Ever Told. It won't dissapoint anyone who enjoys his style! He features a lot of great artists such as Lil Wayne, Chamillionaire, Chris Brown, Carl Thomas, Jazze Pha, Jim Jones (eh not him so much =P), Snoop Dogg, Akon, UGK, and Kandi. If you're not sure if you like him so much try out songs like "Get Like Me" or "Speaker" or "Ball with Me." Those are my three faves.
Also a shout out to Bob Marley! Love him! Always will! Every single song is great so don't forget it! If you don't think so then you need to get a life.
If you haven't noticed I have a wide variety in music taste. It's because I love it all! Music is a major, major part of my life and it wouldn't be the same without it. It makes me feel so good. Oh, that gives me inspiration to make a list of "feel good" songs. Maybe I'll do that later. For now, I hope you found all of this helpful!
Love, Love!
